From the March 28, 2002 edition of The Wayne Herald:
Awana students compete
Ten students in grades three through six from the Concord Awana Clubs competed against teams at a Bible Quiz on Feb. 16.
The event was held at the First Baptist Church in Norfolk.
The purpose of the Quiz is to promote Bible memory and to give the clubbers a greater love for and working knowledge of the Bible.
Placings were as follows:
Third place: Matthew Maxon and Eric Oswald (third grade);
Tyler Hansen (sixth grade).
First place: Tanner Maxon and Clayton Wamstad (fifth grade); Nick Hansen (sixth grade).
The following clubbers had perfect scores in either written or multiple choice events: Dalyce Sherman, Matthew Maxon, Taryn Dahlquist and Clayton Wamstad.
Other clubbers who participated include Mallorie Granquist and Megan Showen.
Nancy Maxon of Laurel and Barb Oswald of Allen coached and organized the quizzers while other Awana leaders helped them review and prepare.
Following the Quiz, clubbers went to the Norfolk YMCA.
