Exchange student 'fits right in'

"American people are open-minded, friendly and talk to you." said Silja Plum, an exchange student at Wayne High School.

Silja of Bad Muensterefiel, Germany is spending the school year in the Dennis and Kathy Mitchell home.

At Wayne High School, the 17-year old is taking Band, Government, Study Hall, American History, Child Development/Adult Living, Choir, American Literature and Spanish III.

She lists Band and Adult Living as her favorite classes. She noted that before she came to Wayne, she had never been in marching band before and that activities such as band and sports are not part of the regular school, but are connected with the town.
