Nebraska cake is cut

John A. Gale, Nebraska secretary of state served as the master of ceremonies at the Nebraska Statehood Day at Wayne State College's Ramsey Theatre, Feb. 28.

Gale called eight school children to the front of the theatre to assist in the cutting of the decorated Nebraska birthday cake. Each child was awarded with a Nebraska shaped cookie.

Dr. Peggy Holloway of WSC performed sing-along songs relating to Nebraska and their country. Dr, Hal Stevens taught the audience about the Lewis and Clark expedition. Nebraska became a state in 1867.
