Winside Library to host open house

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held for the new Lied Winside Public Library on Saturday, May 24.

The new library project began in 1996 with public donations of money and land donated by Winside State Bank. In addition, many fundraisers were held and a $75,000 matching fund donation was received from the Lied Foundation of Nevada. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation donated two new computers to the library.

The library computers are Internet connected for public use.

Individuals and organizations have donated the new shelving and much of the furniture in the children reading area, adult reading area and the Centennial Meeting room for public use.

The total cost of the library was a little over $150,000. The new library opened for business on May 12.
