McCartney begins duties at Wayne State

Douglas W. McCartney, J.D., has been named Vice President for Development at Wayne State College and Executive Director of the Wayne State Foundation. He began his duties on April 22.

Since 2000, McCartney, of Portsmouth, Va., served as Chief Deputy Director of the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation for the Commonweatlh of Virginia.

In that position to which he was appointed by the governor of Virginia, he oversaw 18 regulatory boards ranging from accountants to architects.

Prior to that, McCartney served as Deputy Executive Director of Major Gifts and Director of Planned Giving for the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) in Virginia Beach, Va. for fiveand-one-half years.

Before joining CBN, he was in the private law practice for ten years.

McCartney received his juris doctorate from the O.W. Coburn School of Law at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla. in 1984. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in
Business Administration and Management from Oral Roberts University in 1976.

McCartney and his wife, Gale, are parents of three children: Sarah, 17; Brandon, 15; and Tyler, 13. They are building a home in Wayne; McCartney's family will join him here in June
