16 years and going strong
On the door of Roberta Welte's apartment is a poster that reads "Super Mom lives here."
In each of the past 15 years, hundreds of students have referred to Roberta as "Mom." Mom Welte is in her 16th year as live-in resident director at Wayne State College.
No one in the Midwest has been in the business longer.
Her term at WSC is thought to be the longest tenure at a live-in position in the entire Upper Midwest Region of the Association of College and University Housing.
The association covers the eight state region of Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Michigan.
Roberta was presented an award for their 15 years of service Nov. 4 at a housing officers conference in Omaha.
