November 1, 1984 — WHS Blue Devils see season end at districts
The Wayne-Carroll Blue Devil volleyball team saw their 1984 season come o an end Monday night when they fell to North bend in the opening round of B-4 district volleyball action. The Blue Devils, seeded fifth in the eight-team district playoffs, took early leads in both their sets with number four North Bend before the Tigers were able to come back and take wins of 15-8 and 15-13. "North Bend proved to be the team that we were expecting," said Wayne coach Mavis Dalton. "We went into the game hoping to intimidate their big girl by serving and hitting directly to her," but she responded well and had a good game." The team finished the year with a 10-8 record.
