The Wayne High School Blue Devil Marching Band traveled to Lincoln on Oct. 20 to participate in the Nebraska State Band Association's State Marching Band Competition held at Seacrest Field.

The Blue Devil Marching Band received a Superior rate and trophy again this year. This is the 13th year in a row that the band has received a Superior rating at the State Marching Band Competition.

There was 15 marching bands competing in Class B. Of those, five bands received a Superior rating, nine bands received Excellent ratings and one band received a good rating.
Brad Weber, Director of the Blue Devil Band, went on to thank Dennis and Kathy Mitchell and Gerald and Sharon Grimm for driving the equipment trucks; Keith Kopperud, Dennis Jensen and Robin Stauffer for following the band through its warm-up stations and helping with tuning and minor repairs.

Appreciation was also extended to all the parents, relatives and friends who followed the band to Lincoln and cheered for them, with special thanks to all the ex-Wayne High Band members who were at the competition to support the Wayne High Band.
