October 31, 1974 — Allen Spotlights Former Marshall

The Allen village board and former board administrators awarded retired town marshal E. H. "Jack" Mitchell with a plaque for his 10 years of service to the community last week. Mitchell, who received the award during a special appreciation dinner Friday night, was commended by the board for his dedication after he took over the job in 1964. He retired Oct. 1. In reflecting on the past 10 years, Mitchell said he never had to use his revolver at any time, not even when he was a deputy for two years under Vernon "Doc" Ellis in 1962-63. On hand to present Mitchell the award was LeRoy Roberts, board chairman
at the time Mitchell was hired.
