September 30, 1974 — Science Teacher Earns 'Teacher of Year' Title

Verne Mills has been named Teacher of the Year by fellow teachers in the Wayne-Carroll school system. His name will be forwarded to the selection committee, which will name the top teacher in the state, and if successful there, his name will be sent to Washington, D.C. for consideration for the National Teacher of the Year. The Teacher of the Year award is sponsored by chief state school officers, Encyclopedia Britannica and the Ladies Home Journal. Mills has taught in the Wayne-Carroll school system for five years. He received a bachelor of science degree from Ball State University at Muncie, Ind. He has been active in cellular and molecular biology and has co-authored articles that have been published in educational magazines.
