Wayne State College hosts The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) production of “The Jungle Book” with auditions for children in Ramsey Theatre, located in Peterson Fine Arts Building, on Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. to noon. “The Jungle Book’’ will be presented at Ramsey Theatre, Peterson Fine Arts Building, on Saturday, Aug. 6 at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Children auditioning should arrive at 9:45 a.m. and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition. Each student who auditions will receive a part in the production. All students, from those who have completed kindergarten through those who have completed 12th grade are encouraged to audition. No advance preparation is necessary. Assistant Directors will also be cast to assist with the technical aspects of the production. Registration fee is $20 per child.
Among the roles to be cast are Mowgli (the man-cub); his friends Bagheera (the panther) and Akela (the leader of the pack); the entire wolf family; Shere Khan (the tiger) with his side-kick Tabaqui (the jackal); Nag and Nagaina (the cobras); Darzee (the bird); Hathi (the master elephant); Rikki-Tikki-Tavi (the mongoose); Kaa (the rock-python); Buck (a buck); and of course the Monkey-People.
The Missoula Children's Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. MCT Tour Actor/Directors will conduct rehearsals throughout the week from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day.
