Jack Schlickbernd, 18, of Wayne has been selected by the Nebraska American Legion as the 2024 Eagle Scout-of-the-Year and will receive a $500 scholarship.
Schlickbernd is a senior at Wakefield High School and is a member of Troop 174, where he achieved his Eagle Scout in August of 2022. He is a member of Journey Christian Church, and he volunteers at his church and at various community events in both Wayne and Wakefield.
Schlickbernd has held many Scout positions and is known to be a standout Scout.
He participates in nine different activities in his school. He is a graduate of Cornhusker Boys’ State.
Selected for second place and a $300 scholarship was Lucille Yost of Norfolk. Selected for third place and a $200 scholarship was Jayce Namuth of Sidney.
The selection of the National American Legion Eagle Scout-of-the-Year will be announced in May 2024. The National Eagle Scout-of-the-Year receives a $10,000 scholarship.
