PMC recognizes May 2024 Owlet Sock Monitor recipients (w/2 pics)
Providence Medical Center Foundation has announced this year’s recipients of the Owlet Sock Monitor, a gift made possible through the Kasey Hansen Owlet Fund.
Each year, two lucky infants born at Providence Medical Center are selected to receive this vital health monitor, thanks to the generous contributions from the Kasey Hansen Owlet Fund.
The Kasey Hansen Owlet Fund, a testament to the enduring legacy of the late Kasey Hansen, is a beacon of hope for our community. Kasey, known for her kindness, quiet demeanor, and thoughtfulness, always prioritized her loved ones. Established in her memory, this fund continues to positively impact lives, ensuring that her spirit of care and compassion lives on.
"We are so thankful for the generosity of our donors who provide free Owlets to some of our infants born at PMC," said Beth Broders, Director of Inpatient and Obstetric Nursing Services.
"While our trained nursing staff educate our new parents in ways to reduce the risk of SIDS in newborns, the Owlet provides a level of comfort to our new parents, allowing them to know instantly if baby needs assistance," Broders added.
The Owlet Sock Monitor is a state-of-the-art device designed to track an infant's heart rate and oxygen levels, providing parents with peace of mind and enhancing the safety and well-being of their newborns.
“We are deeply honored to continue Kasey Hansen’s legacy through this initiative,” said Sami Scheffler, Foundation and Marketing Director at Providence Medical Center. “This annual gift embodies Kasey’s spirit of care and compassion, ensuring that her memory lives on in the lives of these young families.”
With the outpouring of support of this fund, PMC was able to gift two babies this May born at Providence Medical, born closest to May 14. It is one of two very special dates for the family of Kasey.
Clayton Wylie Kusel, son of Jessica Dobias and Trevor Kusel, was born on May 10. Penelope “Lennie” Jana Anderson, daughter of Justin and Megan Anderson, was born on May 16.
Lennie's parents stated they are so grateful to be the lucky recipients of the owlet sock generously donated by the family of Kasey. The Andersons added that, "as new parents, it has definitely brought us peace of mind knowing our baby girl has an extra set of monitoring going on while she sleeps! We thank you for your passion regarding the safety of our community babies."
