Sorority sisters gather in former house

A group of approximately 30 women were able to do something this past weekend they have not been able to do for 40 years.

Members of the Alpha Theta Chapter of the Chi Omega Sorority, which was active on the Wayne State College campus from 1969 through May of 1983 were able to gather at their former sorority house to reconnect and reminisce.

The former Chi Omega House, located at the corner of 10th and Nebraska Streets, is now The Rose Cottage Bed & Breakfast, owned by Elizabeth King, herself a Chi Omega.

This weekend's reunion included sorority sisters from Nebraska, California, Texas and South Dakota.

While the sisters have been having reunions every other year since 2011, they have not been able to visit the home due to it being occupied.

A number of the sorority sisters were able to spend the night in the now bed & breakfast and others spent the night with a sorority sister who lives in Laurel.

While in Wayne the group was able to tour Wayne State College, the Wayne County Museum and other points of interest in the community.

Hours were spent catching up on each others lives and reminiscing about the activities they took part while students at Wayne State College.

In addition, representatives of the Wayne State Foundation spoke to the group on projects taking place on campus and thanked them for a $25,000 donation made to the Foundation several years ago for the Willow Bowl restoration project.
