Tour of Homes to benefit Wayne County Museum

Posted

Seven stops will make up this year's Friends of the Wayne County Museum Holiday Tour of Homes, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18 and 19.

Hours for the tour will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tickets for the event are currently on sale and available at all local banks, Swans for Women and the Wayne Area Economic Development Office. They will also be available at the museum during the times of the tour.

Proceeds from the event will be used for renovation and upkeep of the Museum.

The Wayne County Historical Society is partially funded by the Wayne Community Chest.

In coming weeks, brief descriptions of each of the homes will be included in the Wayne Herald.

The home of Rachel and Zach Kunz was built by Eli Jones, who owned the Livery, Feed and Stable in Wayne.

The house was completed in 1893 in Queen Anne style.

Rachel and Zach moved into their home in the spring of 2019 and have loved being a part of the history ever since.

For Christmas this year their theme is "Scandinavian Minimalism" which combines Rachel's Swedish heritage and love of Scandinavian design with the concept of creating a cozy home through Hygge.

Brittany and Steve Webber's home was built in 1967 in the Westwood Addition of Wayne.

The couple purchased the property in 2018. They decided to make this their "forever home" and worked with area businesses for finishing touches. Horizon Construction did an almost total face lift both inside and outside.

The three bedroom, three bathroom ranch style includes a large dining room with original fireplace and master suite on the main floor. The finished basement includes a large bedroom and bathroom, along with a custom bar area.

Brittany enjoys decorating and had  "a wonderful time" getting everything ready for this year's Tour of Homes.

The home has small tributes to their families and favorite pastimes.

The Tour of Homes is also partially funded by the Wayne County Convention and Visitors' Bureau.
