The annual President’s Holiday Gala is part of Wayne State’s Black and Gold Performing Arts Series.

Tickets are required for the President’s Holiday Gala. To obtain tickets, visit www.wsc.edu/performing-arts and select “Purchase Event Tickets.” Tickets are $10 each for the public. Wayne State students, faculty and staff attend free, but must obtain a ticket using their NUID number on the ticketing website.

“We are pleased to once again bring the Gala home to Ramsey Theatre,” explains Dr. David Bohnert, dean of the School of Arts and Humanities. “This prestigious event welcomes people from across the region and truly highlights the talented musical skills of our students and faculty.”

The Gala features choral, instrumental and solo performances by Wayne State student and faculty performers. Repertoire includes holiday favorites such as “Ding Dong! Merrily on High,” “Greensleeves,” “Sleigh Ride” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”

Dr. Matthew Clegg, tenor and voice instructor at Wayne State, will be featured on “O Holy Night,” and student soloists, including Christopher Woerdemann of Wayne and mezzo-soprano Kora Keslin of McCook, will perform works by Clara Schumann and W.A. Mozart. Group performances include the Wayne State Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Lyrica and Fortis.

Holiday prelude music, provided by the Wayne State Saxophone Quartet, Horn Ensemble and Tuba Quartet, welcomes attendees at 1:15 p.m. in the Peterson Fine Arts lobby. A reception, sponsored by Wayne State President Dr. Marysz Rames, will immediately follow the performance.
