Several youth were recognized for their quick thinking in helping their friend following an incident near the Summer Sports Complex.

On June 3, a group of youth were near the Logan Creek when one of them fell off the bank when a portion of the bank gave way.

The youth fell into the creek and quick action by the group of friends helped rescue personnel get to the exact location.

The friends strategically placed themselves between where the youth had fallen and the Summer Sports Complex in an effort to direct police officers and rescue personnel to the spot on the bank where the youth had fallen.

In a short recognition ceremony on June 29, Wayne Rescue Captain Brent Doring praised the efforts of the youth in pointing to the location where their friend was.

Each of the youth was presented with a certificate and gift card in appreciation of their work.
