LINCOLN -- After Tuesday night's exciting run to team state titles, the Wayne High bowling team followed that up with a great showing in Wednesday's singles competition with three top-four finishes, including a state champion.

Juinor Jersi Jensen rolled games of 177 and 199 to beat Winter Martin of Hastings 376-340 in the finals of the Class B girls singles competition Wednesday at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln to capture Wayne's first individiual bowling state championship.

Jensen had to get past teammate Nina Hammer in an exciting semifinal match that saw both bowlers light up the scoreboard in the first game. Hammer shot a 236 with seven strikes -- including four in a row late in the first game -- to outdo an impressive 201 by Jensen. Jensen continued to bowl well in the second game, bowling a 183 to Hammer's 130 to take the match 384-366 and move on to the finals.

Hammer, who was seeded second in the eight-girl single-elimination bracket, beat Daisy Gomez of Lexington to advance to the semifinals against the third-seeded Jensen, who edged Rebekah Pinkelman of Hartington-Newcastle in the opening round.

In boys action, Brogan Foote was one of three Blue Devil boys in singles competition and was the only one to reach the final round of eight, finishing fourth overall.

Foote was the No. 2 seed and advanced to the semifinals with a 487-408 win over Seward's Colin Sandifer. He faced Morgan Bailey of Lexington in the semifinals and came up short in a 383-371 loss, settling for fourth place in Class B.
