August 12, 2004 — Pair experiences life in Belize

Both Ann Witkowski and Karen Kwapnioski have spent a great portion of their lives helping others through their work as registered nurses. This carried over to their recent trip to Belize. The two were part of a Light of Missions, a Medical Missionary organization from Sioux City, Iowa trip to Belize from June 30 to July 11. Belize is located south of the Yucatan Peninsula in Central America. "Belize is an underdeveloped country with lots of poverty. A number of mission groups travel there for several reasons. First of all, the major language of the country is English so communication is not a problem. The area is relatively safe and visitors are welcome," Mrs. Kwapnioski said. Both women indicated that they would go back to Belize or do the same type of work in some other location.
