September 17, 1964 — Venezuelan "IFYE" s Amazed at U.S. Mechanized Farming

Mr. and Mrs. Merle Ring, who farm four miles east of Wayne, are hosting an "IFYE" in their home. This IFYE is Oslardo Martinez of Venezuela, who is in the United States under the auspices of the International Farm Youth Exchange program. Martinez, who manages his father's 2,200 acre ranch near Maracaibo Estado Zulia, Venezuela, expressed amazement over the mechanized methods of feeding cattle on the Ring farm. He explained that all work done on his father's ranch is by hand labor. They have about 700 head of cattle, half of them dairy cattle. Nearly 200 cows are milked daily by hand.
