September 23, 2004— Trail riders make stop in Wayne, visit The Barn

The Northeast Nebraska River City Roundup (RCR) trail-riders camped at the Wayne County Fairgrounds and rode through town on Monday. Children, teachers, and staff stood outside the school buildings to greet them. The riders were on their way east of Wayne to have lunch at The Barn, which is owned by Merle and Donna Ring. Riders came from several states to take part in the event. Some of those states included Minnesota, Iowa, Washington, Missouri,
South Dakota, Illinois, and Nebraska. Marking the 12th year for the Northeast Nebraska ride, the group started at Pierce on Sunday, Stopped at Wayne, and are continuing onto the AK-SAR-BEN River City Roundup Fair & Festival in Omaha this weekend. On their way to Omaha, they travelled through scenic areas which included country roads and camp grounds. On Tuesday night, they camped in West Point, then oakland and Arlington, with Omaha as their last stop. The ride helps promote their western heritage.
