Wildcats women's golf team third among 10 NSIC schools

A busy month of September continued for the Wayne State College women’s golf team with their first 18 holes on Monday.

From the Troy Burne Gold Club in Hudson, Wisconsin, WSC started day one competition with 10 other teams during the Maverick/Gold Bear Fall Brawl showcasing 10 NSIC women’s golf teams (two Minnesota State-Mankato teams).

The Wildcats currently sit third following a first round 325.

Sioux Falls leads the Fall Brawl with a 308 followed by Winona State in second with a 317. Southwest Minnesota State follows the Wildcats with a 328 as Minnesota State-Mankato A rounds out the top five teams with a 331 with 18 holes still to go.

Wayne State College was being led by Abbigail Brodersen currently tied for sixth with a 78 as Saffire Sayre is tied for 14th with an opening round 81.

Other Wildcat first round results came from Erica Lee (t-21st – 82), Hailey Kenkel and Camryn Johnson (both tied for 31st – 84) as well as Meg Thompson (t-49th – 90).

The top leader through 18 holes is Ellie Behring from Winona State shooting a three-over PAR 74 on the PAR 71 course among the 67 golfers.
