Wildcats split final matches during Colorado Premier Challenge

Two more matches concluded preseason play for #2 Wayne State College during the Premier Challenge in Denver, Colorado.

From the Regis University Fieldhouse, WSC took on both Dallas Baptist and #24 Regis University on Saturday.

The Wildcats suffered their second loss of the season during a five-set defeat against Dallas Baptist before finishing with a 3-0 sweep over Regis. WSC is now 6-2 on the season.

In the loss against Dallas Baptist, scores favored DBU 26-24, 20-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-11.

Brooklyn Kusler recorded a double-double with 19 kills and 10 digs to go along with two blocks while Molly Romano also had a double-double with 50 assists and 13 digs to go along with five blocks (one solo) and one kill. Maggie Brahmer (.536) added 17 kills, three blocks and two digs as Taya Beller followed with 15 kills, seven blocks and two digs.

Channatee Robles tallied five kills and 12 digs; Taylor Bunjer tacked on four kills, five blocks (one solo) and one dig as Anna Borner totaled one kill and seven digs. Other dig leaders were Brooke Peltz (10), Allie Petry (two) and Jordie Nekl (one).

Robles led WSC in service aces with three, Kusler and Borner both followed with two aces as Peltz had an ace.

Dallas Baptist University won the hit department against WSC, .273 to .225. WSC held an advantage in blocks (12-9).

From the victory over Regis, scores of the match favored WSC 25-20, 25-22, 25-17.

  Beller led Wayne State College with 14 kills, four blocks (one solo) and two digs followed by Brahmer (.857) with 12 kills on 14 swings to go along with two blocks. Romano posted 33 assists, eight digs, four kills and three blocks (one solo) as Peltz led WSC in digs with 10.

Kusler (four digs) and Robles (five digs/one block) both added five kills as Bunjer tallied four kills, eight digs and three blocks (one solo). Other digs came from Nekl (seven), Borner (two) and Gracen Evans (one).

Romano, Kusler and Ava Spies all recorded an ace.

WSC outhit Regis University, .327 to .237. The Wildcats also held advantages in points (55-53), aces (3-1) and digs (41-36). Both teams had 44 kills and eight blocks.
