Three matches took over the Saturday schedule for Wayne High volleyball during a weekend invitational.
From North Bend Central, Wayne joined five other teams during the NBC Invite on Saturday.
The Blue Devils began the day with a three set loss against Grand Island Central Catholic followed by a 2-0 sweep over Lexington to split pool play. Later in the day, Wayne High was swept by the host North Bend Central. WHS is now 7-4 on the season.
In the loss against GICC, scores of the match favored Grand Island Central Catholic 25-21, 22-25, 25-19.
Junior Elle Powicki posted a team-high 11 kills to go along with two digs; sophomore Mallory Redden recorded 25 assists and seven digs as junior Haley Kramer led the team in digs with 17 to go along with eight kills.
Sophomore Alexis Legler added five kills and a solo block; senior Amelia Legler tacked on four kills and a block as junior Megan Magnuson tallied two kills, one dig and a block. Other digs came from junior Jacen Hasemann (12) and sophomore Addison Frank (eight).
Kramer finished with two service aces as Powicki, Amelia Legler and Redden all had an ace.
From the victory over Lexington, scores of the match favored Wayne 25-19, 25-20.
Alexis Legler recorded eight kills, one dig and two blocks (one solo); Redden posted 20 assists and four digs as Kramer (seven kills/one block) and Frank both led the team in digs with 10.
Powicki added five kills and seven digs as Amelia Legler tacked on three kills and two blocks (one solo). Other digs came from Hasemann (eight).
Magnuson also had one block.
Hasemann, Frank and Amelia Legler all had an ace.
During the loss with North Bend Central, scores of the match favored NBC 25-23, 25-21.
Kramer led Wayne with eight kills to go along with seven digs; Redden recorded 20 assists, four digs and three kills as Frank led the team in digs with 16.
Amelia Legler followed with seven kills, two digs and one block; Powicki added four kills and four digs; Alexis Legler tallied three kills, one dig and one block as Magnuson tacked on one kill, one dig and three blocks (one solo). Other digs came from Hasemann (six).
Kramer, Frank and Redden all had an ace.
