Wildcats end with tie after 90 minutes

Following a home victory this past Sunday, the Wayne State College women’s soccer team was back on their home pitch to open the weekend.

Afternoon NSIC women’s soccer was played on Friday from the WSC Soccer Complex between WSC and Minnesota Duluth.

A last minute goal allowed the visiting Bulldogs to tie Wayne State College at 1-1. WSC is now 3-2-2 (2-0-1 NSIC) while Minnesota Duluth moves to 1-4-1 (1-2-1 NSIC).

Following a scoreless first half, Morgan Rhodes put WSC on the board thanks to an assist from Neleah Dunlap and Paige Pemberton in the 61st minute (60:51).

A penalty kick was awarded to Minnesota Duluth following a hand ball inside the box. UMD answered with a goal with less then a minute remaining in the match. Final ended in a draw of 1-1.

Rhodes placed all three shot attempts on goal with one in the back of the net as Dunlap and Pemberton both had an assist.

Alaina Sorensen recorded two shots with one on goal; Maia Vacks added a shot on goal as Riann Daas, Sydney Schnase, Mackenzie Wright and Abby Evers all attempted one shot.

Sidney Truman was in goal for all 90 minutes. She allowed one goal and recorded three saves.

Minnesota Duluth held a slight advantage in shot attempts, 11-10 as WSC put five shots on goal compared to four by UMD. The Bulldogs recorded eight corner kicks as Wayne State College finished with four.
