Wildcats finish with 1-1 tie

A second straight NSIC road outing made up the schedule of Wayne State College women’s soccer over the weekend.

From the Athletic & Recreation Fields in Aberdeen, South Dakota, WSC visited Northern State University on Sunday.

A late second half goal forced a 1-1 tie. WSC is now 4-3-3 overall and 3-1-2 NSIC as Northern State moved to 4-3-3 (3-1-2 NSIC).

The lone Wildcat goal was recorded by Madilyn Schmeling in the 19th minute (18:57) off an assist by Maia Vacks. Northern State answered in the 77th minute (76:34).

Final ended in a 1-1 draw.

Schmeling totaled four shot attempts with two on goal and one in the back of the net as Reagan Allen tallied three shots on goal.

Mackenzie Wright, Kaylee Herall, Paige Pemberton and Alaina Sorensen all recorded two shots with one on goal. Vacks had an assist.

Sidney Truman was in goal for all 90 minutes. She allowed one goal and recorded five saves.

Wayne State College outshot Northern State, 15-7 including 9-6 on goal. WSC finished with six corner kicks compared to one by the Wolves.
