WSC led by double-doubles over Winona State University

Over the course of a five-day period, #6 Wayne State College concluded a series of three straight road matches.

From McCown Gymnasium in Winona, Minnesota, the Wildcats visited Winona State University on Tuesday.

Wayne State College avoided the fifth set thanks to extra points in the fourth to win 3-1. WSC is now 13-2 (7-0 NSIC) as the Warriors fell to 10-8 (3-4 NSIC).

Scores of the match favored the Wildcats 25-21, 26-24, 18-25, 29-27.

Taya Beller (.418) recorded a double-double with 28 kills and 10 blocks (five solo) to go along with four digs as Molly Romano added a double-double with 41 assists and 14 digs to go along with three kills and three solo blocks. Brooke Peltz led the team in digs with 33.

Channatee Robles followed with 11 kills, four digs and one solo block; Maggie Brahmer added eight kills and three blocks (two solo) as Brooklyn Kusler tallied five kills, three digs and four blocks. Other digs came from Jordie Nekl (13), Anna Borner (six) and Taylor Bunjer had two blocks (three digs).

Kusler and Nekl both finished with two service aces as Robles had an ace.

Wayne State College edged Winona State University in the hit department, .222 to .172. WSC also held advantages in points (98-97) and blocks (17-6). Winona State University committed 31 attack errors compared to 17 by the Wildcats.
