Blue Devils sweep Eagles, team records 10 service aces

With a pair of home triangular matches approaching for Wayne High volleyball, the Blue Devils played their third home match of the season.

From the Wayne Jr/Sr High gymnasium, WHS welcomed Lutheran High Northeast on Thursday.

It was a back-and-forth battle early on as Wayne High held off Lutheran High Northeast in straight sets. WHS improved to 8-5 while the Eagles fell to 3-15.

Scores of the match favored the Blue Devils 27-25, 29-27, 25-16.

Sophomore Mallory Redden posted a double-double with 21 assists and 11 digs to go along with one kill. Junior Elle Powicki recorded a team-high seven kills and four digs as junior Haley Kramer led the team in digs with 13 to go along with a solo block.

Senior Amelia Legler followed with six kills, three blocks (one solo) and one dig; sophomore Alexis Legler added five kills, two digs and one block as juniors Megan Magnuson (three blocks, one solo/one dig) and Naomi Lipp both had two kills. Other digs came from sophomore Addison Frank (nine), junior Jacen Hasemann (eight) and freshman Kamden Dobbins (one).

As a team, Wayne finished with 10 service aces led by Amelia Legler and Redden both with three aces. Frank added two aces while Kramer and Powicki both tallied a service ace.
