The majority of Tuesday's meeting of the Wayne County Board of Commissioners' meeting involved assigning representatives to a number of positions and boards.
Jim Rabe was selected as chairman of the Board of Commissioners and Dean Burbach the vice-chair.
Terry Sievers will serve as the chairman of the Board of Equalization for the coming year with Dean Burbach as the vice chair of this board also.
All representatives to the following positions/boards will remain the same for the coming year:
County Coroner's Physician - Dr. Mark McCorkindale; Flood Plain Administrator - Kyle Huff; Northeast Nebraska Area Agency on Aging - Dean Burbach; Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District - Burbach; Northeast Nebraska Joint Housing Authority - Burbach; Northeast Nebraska Juvenile Services, Inc. - Terry Sievers; Northeast Nebraska Public Heath Department - Jim Rabe; Northeast Nebraska RC&D - Rabe; NorthStar Services - Rabe; Region IV Mental Health Services - Rabe; Wayne Area Economic Development Board - Burbach; Wayne Area Business & Industry Committee - Sievers; Wayne Community Housing Redevelopment - Sievers; Wayne County Safety Committee - Burbach and Wayne County Security Committee - Sheriff Jason Dwinell, Pat Brentlinger and Sievers.
Highway Superintendent Kyle Huff shared information with the board on a number of items including the fact that eight of the 21 projects on the county's One and Six-Year Project list were completed.
He said that the preliminary One and Six-Year plan for 2025-2030 has 19 projects on it. Among those with a high priority is a bridge northeast of Carroll in District 2.
Other items on Huff's list were the bridge inspections completed in 2024 and those planned for 2025; a bridge inspection training session to be held in Lincoln Jan. 14-16; and a review of updated regulations in regard to the County Purchasing Act.
Commissioners approved an interlocal agreement with the City of Wayne for the county's budgeted contribution to the new dispatch center. This amount, $200,000, will be paid between January and June of this year.
During the Wayne County Board of Equalization meeting, which preceded the commissioner meeting, approval was given for several Homestead Exemption corrections, real estate corrections and tax correction due to transfer of ownership on a parcel of land.
County Treasurer Lisa Lindsay also brought forth Form 457, which allows for a motor vehicle tax exemption for an ambulance recently purchased by Providence Medial Center.
The Wayne County Board of Commissioners will next meet in regular session on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 9 a.m. in the Wayne County courtroom.
