LCC basketball teams battle at Humphrey-Lindsay, both fall

A second straight night of road basketball was on the schedule for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge.

From Humphrey, LCC visited Humphrey-Lindsay on Friday.

The LCC girls lost 59-56 while the LCC boys suffered a 61-53 defeat against the host Bulldogs.

In the girls game, LCC led 14-10 after the first quarter before extending their lead thanks to a 21-14 second quarter to go up 35-24 at the break. Humphrey-Lindsay outscored the Bears, 16-13 in the third and 19-8 in the fourth. Final favored Humphrey-Lindsay winning 59-56 to improve to 10-2 as the Bears have now dropped six straight falling to 5-8.

LCC leaders were sophomore Carlie Kvols with 17 points on three made three’s as sophomore Rena Rasmussen added 15 points on three made three’s.

Other scoring came from junior Camryn Sohler with nine points on three made three’s, sophomore Kaida Eriksen followed with eight points as senior Lainey Schutte tallied seven points.

LCC made 12 three-pointers and went 6-7 from the foul line.

During the boys outing, Humprey-Lindsay held a slight 14-12 first quarter lead before extending their lead thanks to a 20-13 second quarter to go up 34-25 at the half. Both teams scored 15 points in the third quarter as LCC won the fourth, 13-12. Final favored Humphrey-Lindsay winning 61-53 to improve to 5-6 as the Bears fell to 4-8 dropping their eighth straight.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge leaders were senior Gibson Roberts with 22 points on three made three’s and went 7-10 from the foul line while freshman Drey Puppe and sophomore Cade Johnson both followed with nine points each.

Other scoring came from senior Eli Haisch with six points, sophomore Tanner Thompson added four points as senior Caleb Erwin scored three points.

The Bears finished 11-16 from the foul line and made eight three-pointers.
