LCC football falls behind early, drops third straight

With one regular season eight-man football game remaining on the schedule this coming Friday, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge was back on the road for a second straight week.

From Ewing, the Bears visited Summerland on Friday, Oct. 11.

Summerland was able to score early and often in the first half to secure the 59-14 home victory and improve to 6-1 on the season. Laurel-Concord-Coleridge fell to 1-6.

Summerland accounted for 31 points in the opening quarter compared to six points for LCC.

Senior Connor Korth connected with freshman Drey Puppe on a 52-yard score towards the end of the first quarter to trail 31-6.

The Bobcats then added 28 more points in the second quarter to lead 59-6 at the break.

The only second half scoring came in the third quarter by senior Eli Haisch on a 53-yard run and two-point conversion by Haisch successful.

Neither team scored in the fourth as Summerland won 59-14.

Korth finished 2-12 with 54 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception while also running the ball 11 times for 24 yards. Haisch led the rushing attack with 128 yards on 18 carries and one score as junior Tyler Boysen added four rushes for 37 yards. Puppe had the 52 yard touchdown as Haisch caught one ball for two yards.

Defensively, Korth recorded a team-high eight tackles (six solo) with one tackle for loss as Haisch followed with seven tackles (three solo). Junior Kolten Settje added five tackles (two solo), one sack and one tackle for loss.

As a team, LCC finished with 247 of  total offense (193 rushing/54 passing) as Summerland accumulated 462 total yards (299 rushing/163 passing).

The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge football team will close out their regular season hosting 7-0 Stanton on Friday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.
