Lynnett G. Hansen, 81, of Wakefield, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender.
Services with the wearing of masks required will be Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 10:30 a.m. at Evangelical Covenant Church in Wakefield. The service will be live streamed through the Evangelical Covenant Church Facebook Page for those not comfortable attending the service but still wanting to celebrate in Lynnett's life. Masks will be required as a request from the family for the safety of all attendees and it is requested you bring with you, your best cherished memories of Lynnett to share with each other and the family. Public visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Evangelical Covenant Church in Wakefield. The wearing of masks will be required. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to Lynnett’s family for later designation.

Lynnett G.Hansen was born in Wayne on March 26, 1939 to Myrtle (Stark) and Bruno Splittgerber. Lynnett grew up on the family farm outside of Altona, later joined by her sister, Julie Ann four years later. She was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church in Wisner and her faith was constant all through her life. She attended grade school at Rural District #5 and later graduated from Hahn High School in Wayne. Following her high school graduation, Lynnett attended the School of Commerce in Omaha and worked at Blue Cross/Blue Shield until returning to Wayne. She and Roger Hansen were united in marriage on Aug. 31, 1969 and their son, Brad, was born in 1973.
Lynett and Roger made their home in and around Wakefield. Lynnette worked at local businesses in her life, which led to many connections and friendships. In fact, anyone who knew Lynnett always considered her a friend because of the caring and compassion she showed. Friends knew she was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it, whether for church or "just because." She was a long time member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Wakefield where she not only actively volunteered when needed, but lovingly cleaned the church even after she retired and was a valued member of their staff. Lynnett was not one to sit still. She loved to be busy and she even delivered for the Wakefield Meals on Wheels up until her passing. She also participated in the Women's Auxiliary and was a very active member in the Red Hat Society and enjoyed many outings with the ladies she valued so much. Lynnett never met a dog she didn't love, often having surprise visits from Pastor Craig's dog at church and visits with her special dog friends; Stella, Reba and Bailey. Ever constant in each others' lives, she and her sister, Julie, never ended a day without talking to each other on the phone, sometimes until wee hours of the morning, but always ending the conversation with, "we will see what tomorrow brings".
Survivors include her son, Brad, who was always the center of her life; her sister and brother-in-law, Julie and Pete Reeg; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Karen Hansen; niece, Chele (Scott) Meisenbach; nephews, Mark (Karri) Biede, Dave Biede, Nick and Rob Hansen; several great nieces and nephews; a great-great nephews and cousins and other loving friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; husband, Roger on July 16, 2001; and many treasured extended family members.
