With one more rescheduled regular season dual on the schedule, the Wayne High bowling teams were back on the road.

From Hilltop Lanes in Dodge, the Blue Devils visited Howells-Dodge on Tuesday.

The Wayne girls won 18-3  while the Blue Devil boys picked up a 19-2 victory against the host Jaguars.

Earlier this month, Wayne hosted Howells-Dodge on Jan. 16.

In the girls dual, the Blue Devils and host Jaguars both got off to hot starts. The two teams traded strikes and spares through the first three frames. Wayne would find their groove and keep the pressure on Howells-Dodge through the rest of the game. Wayne would pull away in the end with an 869 – 667 pinfall victory. Winning individual matches for Wayne in game one were Madi Janke (174), Rylin Hall (175), Gracyn Trautman / McKaeya Becker (215) and Lindsay Niemann (163). Also scoring for Wayne in game one was Sammi Gubbels (142).

Game two found marks a little harder to come by for the Wayne girls. Wayne would battle some splits and some misses and would find themselves behind halfway through the game. Wayne would find a way though in frames 7-9 to take a 70 pin lead. This would be enough as the Blue Devils would win the pinfall match in game two 741-689. Winning individual matches for Wayne in game two were Rylin Hall (124), Graycen Trautman (149) and Lindsay Niemann (187). Also scoring in game two were Madi Janke (143) and Sammi Gubbels (138).

After the individual games Wayne would lead 13-3.  The Blue Devils would go on to win the Baker game 208-158. In the end, Wayne would post a 18-3 match win.

During the boys outing, the Blue Devils found the lanes to be a bit oily and had to find a way to find the line. Wayne would quickly find their groove and build a commanding lead through five frames. Spares became a premium as the oil moved around and the Blue Devils found enough of them.

Konnor Kai had no problems with spares in game one because Kai started game one with 9 strikes in a row.  Entering the tenth, Kai needed just three more for a perfect game. Kai’s first ball in the tenth was buried for a strike. Kai’s second ball in the tenth was buried for a strike. This left only one more strike for the perfect game. Kai threw another great ball on his 12th shot, but it wasn’t meant to be. Kai had thrown the dreaded ringing 10 pin and would end with a score of 299. This big game helped Wayne to win the pinfall total 993-764. Winning individual matches in game one were Blake Smith (171), Ben Haschke (181), Konnor Kai (299) and Aiden Petersen (187). Other scorer for Wayne in game one was Dylan Jensen (155).

Game two became more of a struggle for the Blue Devils. The strikes were not coming as easily and spares became crucial. The Blue Devils slugged it out through five frames and were holding onto an extremely narrow lead.  A hot finish from Aiden Petersen (game high 267) though would help lift Wayne and the Blue Devils would win the pinfall match 924 – 780. Winning individual matches for Wayne were Blake Smith (157), Ben Haschke (183), Konnor Kai (185) and Aiden Petersen (267).  Another scorer in game two was Dylan Jensen (132).

Wayne would go on to win the Baker game 182 – 168 and the overall match 19-2.

In JV action, Wayne bowled four bowlers to Howells-Dodge’s two bowlers. Scoring for Wayne in JV was Jaden Dramse (178, 179 and 135), Marie Allemann (151, 134 and 135), Jamison Meyer (169, 213 and 200) and Alex Rodriguez (181, 140 and 188).

The Wayne High girls and boys bowling teams will next visit Omaha Christian Academy on Friday, Jan. 31 at Maplewood Lanes to close out the regular season.

The Wayne girls travel back to Dodge for Districts on Tuesday, Feb. 4 as the Blue Devil boys travel to Dodge on Wednesday, Feb. 5 for Districts. Districts will start each day at 10:30 a.m.
