Wayne State women drop four spots to finish seventh during Diffee Ford Lincoln Invite, Sayre/Stancikova post top 15 scores

Several teams improved on their scoring during the second and final day of competition as the Wayne State College women's golf team fell back four spots.

Back at Kickingbird Golf Course in Edmond, Oklahoma, the PAR 70 course showed challenges for the Wildcats.

WSC finished Tuesday with a 312 and placed seventh overall with a 617 two-day total among the 16 teams.

Southwestern Oklahoma State remained at the top with a 604 (292/312) while 36-hole team scores from Southern Arkansas, who improved two spots with a 610 (306/304) and Northwestern Oklahoma State had the biggest increase up four spots also with a 610 (309/301) to both tie for second.

Junior Saffire Sayre (up 16 spots) posted rounds of 77/74 (151) along with freshman Gaia Stancikova (up three spots) also shot a 151 (75/76) to tie for 13th for Wayne State College.

Other scoring came from freshman Camryn Johnson (dropped 21 spots) tied for 26th (73/81), senior Abbigail Brodersen (dropped 15 spots) tied for 62nd (80/84), sophomore Erica Lee (up two spots) placed 66th (84/81) as an individual performer junior Meg Thompson (fell one spot) tied for 77th (86/83).

Aubrey Marx from Southern Arkansas led the charge with a 20-spot improvement following rounds of 76/70 (146) as Agathe Lacoste from Northwest Oklahoma State moved up two spots firing rounds of 72/74 (146) to tie for first.

The Wayne State College women's golf team will return to action on Friday and Saturday, March 14 - 15 in Henderson, Nevada during the Winona State/Vegas Warrior Invite.
