Wildcat women’s golf leads day one of Vegas Warrior Invite, four inside top 10

Spring break competition began on Friday for the Wayne State College women’s golf team.

From the Wildhorse Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada, WSC finished day one of the Winona State/Vegas Warrior Invitational on Friday.

The Wildcats shot a 304 during their first round of 18 to sit first by 10 shots among the seven teams.

Following WSC is University of British Columbia (UBC) Okanagan (314) in second, Westminister (UT) is third (316), Winona State (MN) is fourth (319) and Bluefield State (WV) rounds out the top five day one scores with a 352.

Wayne State College is being led by senior Abbigail Brodersen who is in two-way tie for first at two-over par with a 72 with 45 golfers in action. Others in the top 10 include sophomore Erica Lee (third – 75), freshman Gaia Stancikova (tied for fifth – 78) and junior Saffire Sayre (tied for seventh – 79).

Rounding out the team scoring is freshman Camryn Johnson (t-21st – 84).

Also competing as individuals for WSC include sophomore Kylie Powers (t-21st – 84); junior Meg Thompson (t-27th – 87); sophomore Hailey Kenkel (t-34th – 93) and sophomore Olivia Ottman (40th – 98).
