Wildcat women's golf play 36 holes at regionals

Round three of the NCAA Division II Regional Championships for women's golf began was delayed until the morning of May 7.

From Kickingbird Golf Course in Edmond, Oklahoma, round one and two welcomed 18 teams on May 5 before rain in Tuesday's forecast caused a delay.

The Wayne State College women were 14th as of Wednesday morning following scores of 298 and 300 for a 598. WSC, who posted their second and third best rounds in program history, are nine shots back from the top NSIC team of Minnesota State-Mankato who is tied for 11th with rounds of 290 and 300.

#21 Central Missouri leads the field with a two-under PAR team score 558 (285/273).

Six overall golfers were even or better than PAR to lead the NCAA Regional field after two rounds on Monday.

The Wildcats are led by sophomore Erica Lee with rounds of 73 and 74 as well as freshman Gaia Stancikova shooting 75 and 72. Both are in an eight-way tie for 38th with a 147.

Other Wildcat round one and two scores were posted by freshman Camryn Johnson (t-60th) with scores of 74 and 77 (151), junior Saffire Sayre (t-73rd) with rounds of 76 and 78 for 154 as well as senior Abbigail Brodersen (t-79th) scoring a 78 and 77 for 155.

There were 95 golfers who posted two 18-hole outings on May 5.
