NSIC play began Friday night for #8 Wayne State College on the court.
From the Alex Nemzek Field in Moorhead, Minnesota, the Wildcats visited MSU Moorhead to open the weekend.
After splitting early sets, Wayne State College picked up a four-set victory over the Dragons to improve to 7-2 and start league play at 1-0. MSU Moorhead fell to 5-4 (0-1 NSIC).
Scores of the match favored the visiting Wildcats 25-9, 18-25, 25-19, 25-11.
Molly Romano posted a double-double with 43 assists and 15 digs to go along with one kill and one block; Channatee Robles recorded a team-high 17 kills and nine digs as Brooke Peltz led the Wildcats in digs with 21.
Other double figure kill leaders were Maggie Brahmer (.417) had 11 kills and two solo blocks followed by Taya Beller with 10 kills, six blocks (four solo) and three digs.
Brooklyn Kusler added nine kills, five digs and a block as Taylor Bunjer tacked on two kills and a solo block. Other digs came from Anna Borner (six), Allie Petry (five) and Jordie Nekl (four).
Kusler finished with two service aces while Robles, Peltz and Nekl all had an ace.
Wayne State College outhit MSU Moorhead, .304 to .111. WSC also held advantages in points (64-56), kills (50-46), blocks (9-4), assists (45-42) and digs (68-64).
