NSIC Outdoor track & field championships were held at Malosky Stadium in Duluth, Minnesota from May 8 - 10.

The Wayne State College women finished eighth with 38 points while the WSC men took fourth with 81 points.

In the women's division, Minnesota State-Mankato captured the women's team title for a fourth straight season with 224 points followed by University of May in second at 143 points.

Senior Reilly Young posted a top mark of 164' 11" to win the discus while sophomore Torrance Tso collected All-NSIC honors placing third in the event (154' 2").

Young also had an All-NSIC finish Friday in the hammer throw placing third with a toss of 162' 8".

Wayne State's other All-NSIC performer was senior Hailey Baker who posted a second-place finish Friday in the hammer throw at 180' 9".

During the men's division, Minnesota State-Mankato won a 13th consecutive title with 194.5 points well ahead of runner-up UMary with 112 points.

Freshman Emmanuel Badejo won the 400-meter dash in a new NSIC meet record time of 46.58 seconds, bettering the previous mark of 46.65 set last year by UMary's Raheem Taitt-Best. Badejo also became the first Wildcat NSIC sprint champion since Ben Jansen won the 400-meter dash (49.30) back in the 2006 season.

Badejo anchored the first-place 4 x 100-meter relay team with a winning time of 40.70 seconds, marking the first-time ever a Wildcat quartet has captured the gold in the event at an NSIC Championship. Other members of the relay team were freshman Luke Klabenes, freshman Mitchell Hupp and senior Wyatt Nissen.

The final event of the weekend saw the Wildcat 4 x 400-meter quartet of Badejo, junior Alex Leuenberger, Hupp and Nissen close with an All-NSIC effort taking second in a time of 3:12.73, a new school record by more than four seconds set April 25 (3:16.91) at the Drake Relays.

In Friday's prelims Hupp set a new WSC school record in the 100-meter dash clocking 10.29 seconds to eclipse the previous school mark of 10.36 seconds set earlier this season by Badejo at the Wildcat Outdoor Classic (3/28).

Senior thrower Daniel Elge recorded a pair of All-NSIC finishes with a second-place heave in the hammer throw at 189' 2" (WSC scored 19 points alone in the hammer throw) and was the last athlete to make the finals in the shot put producing a personal-best mark on his final throw to move from ninth to second in the event (55' 10 1/2"). Junior Daylin Mallory also collected All-NSIC honors taking third in the shot put at 55' 3".
