Dirt Devil 18s, 14s conclude tournament in bracket play

Bracket play began Sunday afternoon for both of the Dirt Devil 18s and Dirt Devil 14s during the Zoom in’ Thru June York Tournament.

Back at the York Ball Complex, the Dirt Devil 18s went 1-1 while Dirt Devil 14s posted an 0-1 record to close out the two-day tourney.

In the 18U – A Division, the Dirt Devil 18s (13-10) won 13-3 over the York Fusion before suffering a 4-3 loss against the McCook Rebels.

Among the weekend, Reagan McGuire recorded a team-high five hits (three singles, two doubles) and led the team in runs scored with five while Jordyn Gamble posted a team-high five RBI.

Sammi Gubbels (234 pitches +, no pitch count posted in final game) started all five games working 17 and a two-third innings allowing 14 runs (11 earned) off 20 hits while striking out 17 batters and walking six.

During the win over York Fusion, the Dirt Devil 18s held a 3-1 lead after the first inning followed by an eight-run second inning. York Fusion scored a run in the third as the Dirt Devils used a 2-1 advantage in the fourth. Final favored the Dirt Devil 18s winning 13-3 and winning the hit department, 14-7.

Reagan McGuire singled, doubled twice, drove in three runs and scored twice; Delaney Kruse singled three times, drove in two runs and scored twice; Rylin Hall singled, doubled and scored twice; Alexis Legler singled twice and scored twice as Jersi Jensen singled twice and scored.

Sammi Gubbels singled, drove in a run and scored; Lily Gubbels singled and scored as Kassidee Holz and Jordyn Gamble both accounted for two RBI and a run scored.

Sammi Gubbels (26 pitches) picked up the win in two innings allowing one run off three hits while striking out two batters. Gamble (28) worked two innings allowing two earned runs off four hits while striking out two batters.

From the loss against the McCook Rebels, the Dirt Devil 18s led 2-0 after the first inning. McCook Rebels then scored a run in the second and three more runs in the fourth to lead 4-2. The Dirt Devil 18s added one more run in the fifth but suffered a 4-3 loss. The McCook Rebels outhit the Dirt Devils, 7-3.

Gamble singled and drove in two runs while Lily Gubbels singled and drove in a run.

Legler singled; Delaney Kruse scored twice as Reagan McGuire scored.

Sammi Gubbels (pitch count not available) suffered the loss in four and a third innings allowing four runs (three earned) off seven hits while striking out three batters.

In the 14U Division, the Dirt Devil 14s (17-14-1) suffered a 9-6 loss against the Golden Girls 14U.

Among the weekend from four games, Gracelynn Daniels (three singles, one triple) and Kinnley McGuire (two singles, two doubles) tied for the team-high four hits and both tied for the team-high five RBI while McGuire scored a team-high six runs along with Anna Dutcher scoring six times.

McGuire (274 pitches) appeared in all four games starting three working 13 innings allowing 23 runs (10 earned) off 26 hits while striking out 21 batters, walking seven and hitting one.

Both teams scored three runs in the first inning before the Golden Girls added two runs in the second to lead 5-3. Golden Girls 14U used a 4-2 advantage in the fourth while the Dirt Devil 14s scored a run in the fifth. Final favored Golden Girls 14U winning 9-6 and winning the hit department, 8-5.

Gracelynn Daniels singled, tripled and drove in three runs while Lilly Johnson singled and drove in two runs.

Kinnley McGuire singled and scored twice; Alivia Kesting singled as Anna Dutcher, Sidney Nelson and Kamden Dobbins all scored.

McGuire (84 pitchers) suffered the loss in four innings allowing nine runs (two earned) off eight hits while striking out five batters and walking one. Johnson (13) worked an inning striking out two batters.
