At approximately 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, Oct. 2) Wayne firefighters were called to a soybean field on fire just southwest of Wayne.
Mutual aid was provided by the Winside Volunteer Fire department and Carroll Volunteer Fire department. In addition, several local farmers provided tractors and discs to help prevent the fire from spreading.
No details are available at this time on the cause of the fire.
Due to dry, windy conditions, the area is currently under a Red Flag Warning and burning of any type is being discouraged.
