Wayne State College hosting Homecoming activities next week

Wayne State College will host its 2024 Homecoming festivities Sept. 30 through Oct. 5 on campus.

Homecoming kicks off on Monday, Sept. 30, with royalty coronation at 7 p.m. in Ramsey Theatre, located in the Peterson Fine Arts Building. All community members and students are welcome to attend.

The public can also attend free planetarium shows Friday and Saturday, Oct. 4-5, in the Fred G. Dale Planetarium, located on the lowest level of the Carhart Science Building.

Activities for Friday, Oct. 4, include an opening reception for the Wayne State Alumni and Faculty Art Exhibit at 3:30 p.m. in the Nordstrand Visual Arts Gallery, located on the main level of Conn Library.

The Homecoming parade and Band Day will begin activities at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, on Main Street in downtown Wayne. A Band Day concert will be held in the college’s Willow Bowl following the parade. The President’s Society and Honored Classes Brunch takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Frey Conference Suite. Honored classes this year are ’64, ’74, and ’84 for their 60-, 50-, and 40-year reunions. Campus tours are available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., starting in the Kanter Student Center.

A Wayne State wrestling alumni reunion will also be held Saturday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Kanter Student Center’s Elkhorn Room, and the Wildcats take on Minot State at 1 p.m. during the annual Homecoming football game.

Student events throughout the week include the Wildcat Dress-Up Dash,” Greek Olympics, Willy Olympics, the Wildcat Glam Jam, and pep rally and bonfire.
