Wildcat women net four, 23 shot attempts during home victory

After playing 90 minutes of scoreless soccer earlier in the week, the Wayne State College women took advantage of the shot attempt advantage on Sunday.

From the WSC Soccer Pitch, the Wildcats welcomed William Jewell College (MO).

Wayne State College scored twice each half to win 4-0 and improve to 1-0-1 on the season.

First half goals came from Maia Vacks (19:45 mark) on an assist by Madilyn Schmeling and Mackenzie Wright (34:27 mark) scored thanks to assists from Addison Walker and Kaelyn Reeves to lead 2-0 at the break.

In the second half, Jordan Bedard (45:54) used an assist from Alaina Sorensen followed by Abby Evers (60:47) who scored off assists by Vacks and Schmeling.

Vacks finished with four shot attempts (one on goal) one in the back of the net and one assist; Bedard added three shots (two on goal) and scoring one; Evers tacked on two shots on goal and scored once; Wright finished with a lone shot on goal in the back of the net as Schmeling tallied two shot attempts and two assists. Reeves recorded one shot attempt and one assist as Sorenson and Walker both had an assist.

Kaylee Herall, Brynn Magner, Sarah Pritchard, Rachel Davis, Haley Hoffman and Sydney Schnase all placed one shot on goal as Morgan Rhodes, Alyssa Ferin, Tyler Donaldson and Riann Daas all had one shot attempt.

Sidney Truman played 67:06 in goal recording one save. Alexa Hofstetter played the final 22:54 in goal.

Wayne State College outshot William Jewell, 23-4 including 12-1 on goal. WSC also held the advantage in corner kicks, 11-4.
