Connie L. Meyer, 72, of Wayne, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025 in Pender.
She was born Jan. 7, 1953 in Huron, South Dakota to Robert ‘Bob’ Douglas and Maxine Ruth (Chadwell) Twite. She graduated from Wakefield High School in 1971. She was united in marriage to the only great love of her life, Jerold ‘Butch’ Meyer on June 3, 1972 in Wakefield.
Throughout her life, Connie’s passion was life on the farm with Butch and making a home for her family. In 1976, they welcomed a son, Kelly Joshua, and in 1980, they welcomed a daughter, Megan Allison. In 1993, Connie graduated cum laude from Wayne State College as a non-traditional student. Through the years following her graduation, Connie worked in Wayne and always did what was expected of her.
Connie was a creative soul, had a knack for learning new skills or hobbies, and was entrepreneurial. She loved searching for a new treasure to add to her collections and went on frequent ‘junking’ excursions with Butch and Megan. She especially enjoyed restoring and re-purposing furniture from her collection, with many pieces playing central roles in her or her family’s lives. Additionally, she was a blog author, crocheter, and prolific quilter. In 2014, she opened Worthy Finds, a small boutique to share some of her treasures and re-purposed furniture with others.
Summertime was Connie’s favorite season. She could be found roaming around the farm on her golf cart, tending her multiple flower gardens, basking in the warm sunshine, or tackling the next project in her workshop. When the work was done, or if it was cold outside, she was an avid reader, with Stephen King being her favorite author. Summer also meant baseball and softball games. Connie loved watching her children and grandchildren play baseball and softball. Whenever she attended their games, she arrived with Tootsie Pops, a bag of sunflower seeds, and a scorebook to stay focused on the game.
Survivors include her immediate family, who she loved and was so proud of, including her husband of over 52 years, Butch; her children Kelly (Melissa) Meyer, and Megan (Luke) Virgil; and her grandchildren Jamison and Lainey Meyer, and Brody and Brynn Virgil.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maxine and Bob Twite; her parents-in-law, Dean and Dorothy Meyer.
