February 25, 1965 — New type x-ray machine added at Wayne Hospital

A new General Electric x-ray machine of the latest type has replaced a model that has been in use for around 20 years, according to Norman Olsen, hospital administrator. It is one of a series of improvements made the past two years. Dr. Francis Martin, Norfolk, will come here to do flouroscopies with the new equipment. He is a radiologist and through the use of the new x-ray can give quicker and more accurate diagnoses. Advantages of the new x-ray unit
include its ease of movement so a patient may lie down, be tilted to a vertical position or be x-rayed in any position that may be desired; it has a spot film device which takes film as the radiologist operates it; and it has many more safety facors than the old unit for radiation for patient, operator, and technician.
