January 8, 2015 —Stolen van found just in time for Gibson to see Husker hoops game
In a series of emotional swings, "all's well that ends well' could easily describe last week for Jess Gibson and his family. The 14-year-old, who has cerebral palsy, had been counting the days and hours until he and his family could attend a Nebraska Husker basketball game. The plan was to leave Wayne early on Dec. 31 to get tickets so Jess could be seated in the lower level of the handicap section of the seating area. Jess can't see very well, and his parents, Brian and Shannon, hoped to have him seated close to the floor where the action was.
"Brian woke up to go to the golf cours and when he walked outside at about 8:30 a.m., he saw that our handicapped-accessible van was not in the driveway," Shannon said.
After checking with all family members, Shannon and Brian determined that the van had been stolen and called the Wayne Police Department. Shannon then got on Facebook and shared the story. Just as they were leaving Wayne, the police called and had found the van, and were able to make it to the game.
