May 14, 2015 — Brothers helping earthquake victims in Nepal from Wayne
"Even though we are so far away, we haven't given up and will do everything in our power to build our country back up."
These are the words of Nepal-natives Dipendra Pokhrel and his brother Bipul. The two brothers, who are employed at Providence Medical Center as a medical labratory scientist and pharmacy technician, respectively, are natives of Kathmandu, the site of a 7.8 earthquake on April 25. The brothers said that of the 75 districts that make up the country of Nepal, 39 were hit by the earthquake and the entire country has been impacted. Infrastructure in the
country has been destroyed and landmarks that are hundreds of years old are gone. Both brothers noted that the country was hit by an earthquake in 1934 in which 8,000 people were killed. The April 25 earthquake affected a greater number of people as the population of the country is considerably larger than at that time.
