Patrolman wins Red Cross Award

Wayne Police Officer Keith Adams recently received the American Red Cross Certificate of Merit for saving the life of a 20-month-old baby last year.

Bernice Fulton, the Wayne County chapter's safety chairman, and Wayne Mayor Wayne Marsh presented the certificate and the American Red Cross Lifesaving Award of Merit to pin to the patrolman.

Adams, who recently was named officer of the year by the Nebraska Police Officers Association, joins only two other Wayne County residents who have won the award during the past 19 years- Gary West and Bob Schleicker, according to Fulton.

Adams saved the life of Joshua Bowers, the son of Mary and Robert Bowers of Wayne, by using artificial respiration. The award is the highest given by the American Red Cross.
