WS Recital to feature College Music Faculty

A public recital at Wayne State College Sunday will feature soprano Connie Matthews Webber, accompanied by pianist James Day, both of the college music faculty. The concert will begin at 4 p.m. in Ramsey Theater of the Fine Arts Center.

The program includes music of the 18th, 19th anf 20th centuries, sung in English, French and German. Mrs. Webber will begin with songs of Joseph Hadyn and conclude with a group of songs by the 20th century Russia composer, Sergei Rachminoff. Also in
the program: a group of German lieder by Schubert and "La Caravane" by French composer Ernest Chausson.

Mrs. Webber received her bachelor of music degree from Oberlin Conservatory of Music and her master's degree from Kent State University. She spent a year studying at the Mozarteum Academy of Music and Fine Arts in Salzburg, Austria, and toured
Russia for two months with the Oberlin College choir.

Day received his training at the Conservatory of Music of Kansas City, the University of Kansas, the Julliard School of Music in New York, and at the Universities of Southern California and Florida State.

While studying at Kansas City, Day was granted the Leopold Godowsky Memorial Scholarship for three years and appeared twice as soloist with the Kansas City Philharmonic Orchestra.
