Patrick “Pat” J. Craig, 67, of Wayne formerly of Norfolk died Wednesday April 30, 2025 at Wayne Countryview Care in Wayhne with his sister, Kathy, by his side.
Memorial services will be held at Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, followed by a reception at Freedom Park Shelter in Wayne located at 13th and North Lincoln Street.
Patrick “Pat” J. Craig was born Sept. 20, 1957 at the Lutheran Community Hospital in Norfolk to Bill and JoAnn (Weich) Craig. Pat was the youngest of six children. He was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. He attended Christ Lutheran School and graduated from Norfolk Senior High School in 1975. Pat enlisted in the U.S. Army and received an Honorable Discharge.
Pat spent most of his adult years in Wayne. He worked part time at Greenwood Cemetery for 15 years and for Wayne Care Center Environmental Services Department for 14 months. Pat then worked for the Wayne State College grounds maintenance department. He retired on June 10 2024, after almost 28 years of employment.
Pat enjoyed watching sports on TV. He was a big Husker Fan, never missing a game. He also watched golf, basketball, baseball wrestling. In his younger years Pat enjoyed spending time at the Elkhorn and Platte Rivers with family and friends. He also spent a lot of time golfing with his dad and brothers. He enjoyed the friendships he made while living and working in Wayne. Those friendships meant a lot to Pat and to his family.
Survivors include three brothers and their wives, Bill and Kathy Craig of Westfield, Indiana, Bob and Sandy Craig of Lincoln and Dan and Madeline Craig of Mercer Island, Washington; and one sister and her husband, Kathy and Vince Lewis of rural Pilger; aunts, an uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Mike Craig; and one niece, Wendi Craig.
The family wants to express their appreciation to Wayne Country View Care, Providence Hospice, nurses and volunteers who cared for Pat physically and spiritually. Thanks to all of the medical staff who cared for Pat through the years. God bless you all.
