The Wayne State College beach volleyball team had three players named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District At-Large Women’s Team announced Tuesday morning.  Senior Jordan McCormick was a repeat selection and advances to the Academic All-American ballot while juniors Taya Beller and Allie Petry both earned Academic All-District honors.

The College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Women’s At-Large Team recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom.  Student athletes need to maintain a minimum of 3.50 grade point average and play in at least 50 percent of competition in their respective sport.

Petry, a junior from Council Bluffs, Iowa (St. Albert HS), posted a 3.79 grade point average majoring in psychology.  On the court, she played #1 pairing with Taya Beller and posted a 6-7 record highlighted by a three-set win over Nebraska’s Harper Murray and Laney Choboy.

Beller, a junior from Lindsay (Humphrey HS), maintained a 3.76 grade point average majoring in business management.  She recorded a 6-7 record in #1 pairing with teammate Allie Petry this season capped by a season-opening three-set win over Nebraska’s Harper Murray and Laney Choboy.

The Wayne State College beach volleyball team finished the 2024 season with a 10-6 record, including a 3-3 mark at the season-ending AVCA Small College Beach Championships.
